We offer training on a range of diversity and inclusion topics, for both leaders and employees that range from two hours to a full-day. These interactive sessions include components of education, discussion and practical application of key concepts.

Unconscious Bias

Understanding what implicit bias is and how it impacts our decisions is key to fostering more inclusive and intercultural workplaces, practices and leadership. This session focuses on the implicit attitudes or stereotypes that shape how we engage others and make decisions in the workplace.

Inclusive Culture

Failure to build an inclusive culture means that employees who feel they don’t belong often leave or cover up their differences. This drives talent away, normalizes discrimination and stifles innovation. Employees that feel safe bring their best selves to work. Leaders trained in how to build and sustain a culture of belonging can turn diversity into a strategic business advantage.

 

 

Growth Mindset

A growth mindset is a belief that talent can be developed. Organizations and leaders with a growth mindset tend to achieve more and outperform those with a fixed mindset because they worry less about looking smart and invest more energy in continuous improvement. A growth mindset is crucial for leading diverse teams.

Intercultural Intelligence

Inclusive organizations need to understand the complexity of managing diverse teams and what is required to convert a team’s diversity into innovation. This training discuss the impact of cultural differences and what’s required to developing Intercultural Fluency.

Audience and Format

 

HRx training sessions can be delivered to a general employee base, people leaders (middle management) or executive leaders. No previous knowledge of diversity and inclusion is required.

The recommended number of participants for employee session is 20-50 participants; for people leaders/middle management session is 15-30 participants; and for executives/senior leaders session is 8-15 participants.

Training sessions are delivered in person, in a workplace meeting room or offsite classroom. The interactive session will include components of presentation, facilitated discussion, table-top exercises and anonymous polling.

For evaluation, participants may complete an end of course evaluation and receive a certificate of completion.

Kathy Andrews

Kathy is an accomplished leadership facilitator, coach and organizational development consultant with close to 20 years of experience in both private and public sectors.

Kathy works with individuals, teams and organizations, to align business strategy and culture, through the design and delivery of high-impact people programs.

She has developed talent solutions for many global and local organizations including Canfor Corporation, STEMCELL Technologies, Response Biomedical and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. She has held several senior human resources positions at Methanex Corporation, Ausenco, Ballard Power Systems and Teekay Corporation. Her work has taken her to all parts of the globe including the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Trinidad, New Zealand and Egypt.

Kathy holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Social Science Degree from Rhodes University in South Africa, and a Provincial Instructors Diploma program from Vancouver Community College.

She is accredited in a variety of leadership and psychometric assessments including KornFerry Leadership Architect TM, Team Management Systems©, Speed of Trust TM, Predictive Index® (PI), and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®.

Wyle Baoween

Wyle Baoween works with executives, senior leaders and their teams to build diverse and inclusive organizations. Wyle has been recognized as one of Canada’s thought leader in diversity and inclusion for the solutions he has developed and re-engineered, including technology for assessing unconscious bias, the Diversity and Inclusion Culture Change Curve (D&I CCC), and data analytics for diversity and inclusion. Wyle also appears regularly in media outlets such as Forbes, CBC and Business in Vancouver.

Prior to HRx, Wyle worked for more than 10 years in consulting and project management, specializing in process improvement, technology and strategies for change management. He worked in the marine, transportation and construction industries with local and international clients.

Wyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Wyle is a past Chair for the Vancouver Board of Trade Advisory Committee for Women’s Leadership. He is an Ambassador for the University of Victoria’s Business School and was recognized as one of the University’s 25 Alumni to Watch.

Wyle speaks regularly on the topics of diversity and inclusion, unconscious bias and organizational change.

Sofia Arisheh

Sofia has in-depth understanding of how companies bridge their HR strategy with their business strategy, always building a stronger focus on people practices to translate into better business results. She has worked in both provincially and federally regulated companies, in a wide range of industries including education, engineering, public accounting, manufacturing, law and telecommunications.

Sofia has extensive expertise in training and capability development, performance management, employee engagement and change management.

Her focus on training has included developing robust training strategies and delivering organization-wide training programs to local and international organizations. The training programs targeted areas such as change management, leadership development, coaching, facilitation skills, communication style and operational excellence.

Sofia has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Human Resources Management from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, hold a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) destination and is an Accredited Licenses Practitioner for Insights Discovery.
